Description

Slipp and Blaggut, two sea rats from the novel "The Bellmaker"

I always loved the stories of these two. Slipp was your oridinary evil sea rat captain where as Blaggut is probably the most original vermin in the entire Redwall series. Blaggut has an unusual amount of compassion for young creatures, even stopping Slipp from harming them a few times in the book. He is dumb and easily manipulated but in the end he really takes to the peaceful way of life and expressed he wanted to live forever at Redwall and give up his violent searat ways. Slipp was always more interested in finding Redwall's treasure... Which ended up being a box of children's toys.

After Slipp killed Redwall's Badgermum the two fled but Blaggut ended up killing Slipp and returning to Redwall. He lived his life as a peaceful boat maker and friend to the Abbey.

I always imagined Slipp to be a smaller rat but very slick and evil looking. I imagined Blaggut to be much bigger but really dumb and dopey looking. Kinda a Pinky and the Brain type thing. Hope it looks okay. (:

Blaggut was pure good from the beginning.  Really there was never any ambiguity about him.

I thought Romsca was the one really effective grey character in the Redwall universe.  She actually achieved complexity.  Remember she showed good traits in the end and the Abbot grew to love her, but she never said she was wrong for having been a corsair.

The Brain was too nice to be compared to the execrable Slipp!
